Kantha…My Newest Obsession

Kantha is a type of embroidery on fabric that is hand sewn with hundreds of “running stitches.” Vintage cotton fabrics from India are layered together to create the most amazing “quilted” texture…and I am absolutely obsessed! I have been collecting them for a few months now and I am finally starting to do something with them. I started with a few pillows and cushions for a bench, but I have some chairs at my upholsterer’s shop ready for a complete makeover.

I cut a few of them up into a variety of sizes to patch onto linen for pillows….

I love that when they got worn out or torn, a patch or another layer of fabric was sewn over the hole. The time and detail put into each and every one is out of control!

The tiniest little variance in fabric adds so much!

The most amazing thing is that there are no two the same. Original, each and every one….just the way I like it!

I’m so lucky to be married to one of the most amazing wedding photographers ever…who never says “no” when I say, “honey, can you take some pictures for me?”

More to come soon :)
